Appleman earns top award for article on PR writing instruction

Monroe, NY, Apr. 26, 2007 — Jack Appleman, writing instructor and seasoned PR specialist, won an Impact Award for his article, "Writing instruction helps PR pros break through to the media," published in PR Tactics & The Strategist Online. His entry was voted best in the PR feature articles category at the 12th Annual Impact Awards dinner hosted by the Business Marketing Association of New Jersey (BMA/NJ) on Apr. 24. The event honors the best in business-to-business marketing and communications.

The article discussed how to think like the media to create legitimate story ides and how to write compelling subject lines and leads. It also explained the keys to conducting an effective PR writing training.

Appleman, president of the Monroe, New York-based SG Communications (www.sgwriting.com), offers writing workshops geared to specific audiences, including PR professionals and employees in various industries. His career has included positions as a journalist, a PR professional, and a writing instructor. He is also an adjunct professor at William Paterson University and a past president of the BMA/NJ (www.bma-nj.org).
