About Jack E. Appleman, CBC

Jack Appleman, author of a top-selling business writing book, teaches individuals to write more productively through group workshops, webinars and one-on-one coaching sessions. The president of SG Communications, Jack brings more than 20 years' experience as a corporate trainer, professor and public relations/marketing specialist. He has earned outstanding feedback for his writing workshops to professionals in a wide array of fields that include not-for-profit organizations, banking, insurance and accounting.

His book, 10 Steps to Successful Business Writing (2008, ASTD Press), has become one of the top two sellers for the publisher and for Amazon under the "business writing" category.

Jack speaks frequently on writing and communication skills and has published several articles on the importance of good writing. These include a column, "Business writing training can boost productivity," in Human Resource Executive Magazine and an article on PR writing that earned him a 2007 Impact Award from the Business Marketing Association.

As an adjunct professor, Jack teaches writing and communication courses at William Paterson University and Fairleigh Dickinson University, both in New Jersey. Jack received his BA in Communication from Ohio State University and his MS in Journalism from Ohio University. He earned the Certified Business Communicator (CBC) designation from the Business Marketing Association. Jack currently serves as President-elect of the Northern New Jersey chapter of the American Society for Training and Development.
